Though he was born in Europe, Arie Luyendyk Jr. competed in North American races. In 1992, Luyendyk first competed in kart racing. His other competitions include the Indy Lights Series where he has placed second, third and fourth. He also competed in the 12 Hours of Sebring, the 24 Hours of Daytona, Sports Car Club of America, Skip Barber Formula Dodge series, U.S. Formula Ford 200 Championship, Formula Continental, Chicagoland Speedway and the Indy Racing League’s Indy Pro Series to name a few. Luyendyk was also part of A1 Team Netherlands in the 2007-2008 A1 Grand Prix season.
Apart from racing, Arie Luyendyk Jr. was a driver analyst of the Indy Lights races in 2009. In 2012, he became a race commentator of the Indy Lights for NBC Sports Network. His television appearances include Hell’s Kitchen and The Bachelorette where he placed second on its eighth season. The Bachelorette, Emily Maynard, accepted the proposal of Jef Holm during the season finale. Arie Luyendyk Jr. was also part of Wipeout: Summer Episode 7: Bachelors vs. Bachelorettes though he was eliminated early in the competition.
