Billy Dee Williams was born on April 6th, 1937 in New York City, New York. Aside from being a famous American actor, he is also credited for being an artist, singer and also a writer over his long and illustrious career. Unlike some other actors, Billy Dee Williams went to a different route before he became famous on the big screen. He first got his break into acting starring in many Broadway shows in his hometown of New York City. His first Broadway show was in 1945 when he was only eight years old, but then he returned to the stage as an adult in 1960. It was not until the year of 1959 did he get his first acting role in the movie called The Last Angry Man. However, he rose to stardom in 1971 starring in Brian’s Song. After that role, he became one of Hollywood’s most recognized black actors getting renowned for his roles in the “blaxploitation” genre. It was not until Billy Dee Williams was cast in the role of Lando Calrissian in 1980’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back did he become a household name around the world. This role made him famous globally and he reprised the role three years later for Return of the Jedi. Although he only played the role of Lando twice on the big screen, he continued to play the character in other various Star Wars cartoons and video games. His most recent outing as Lando was voicing the original trilogy version of the character in Star Wars Battlefront II. Another role that made him famous was starring as Harvey Dent in the first Batman movie released in 1989. Sadly, the role was only a one off as he did not get the chance to play Two-Face in a sequel since director Tim Burton did not direct the third Batman movie. He was later recast in Batman Forever as Tommy Lee Jones got the part.
