Varsity Career
During Graham’s high school years, he became an outstanding linebacker and served as a captain for the 2006 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. But he became a force to reckon with when he entered the Michigan Wolverines. Although he had been focused in offensive plays, Graham also performed as a reserve defensive tackle during the season.
While the Michigan Wolverines was preparing for their 2007 football team season, Graham got some news off the field that he had been given a perfect 99 rating in the NCAA 2008. During their match against the Notre Dame, Graham had a record of 3.5 sacks in the rivalry game to help lead Michigan to its first win of the season. In the weeks to follow, he had 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in a victory against Penn State. In the course of the season, he started six games at defensive end. He led the team in sacks with 8.5 and was second in forced fumbles with 3. Things were going well but, the team began the season unranked in the Associated Press poll. By the 27th of September, Graham had 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles against the Wisconsin Badgers. He was also named as Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week. He ranked second nationally in tackles for loss and tied for eleventh in sacks. After this season, he was recognized as a 2008 Second-team All-Big Ten Conference selection by both the coaches and the media. Graham was selected as the team Most Valuable Player.
Professional Career
In the 2010 NFL Draft, Graham was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round. He decided then and there that the number 54 of the Eagles was his but he changed his mind and chose number 55. Because of his torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a game against the Dallas Cowboys, he was placed on the injured reserve list. He underwent surgery on his knee. Furthermore, he was placed on the active/physically unable to perform list on 2011. However, by October 24, he was removed from the physically unable to perform list so he could return to practice. By 2013, Graham had moved from the defensive end to linebacker. Because of coming close to signing with the New York Giants, Graham signed a 4-year $26 million contract with $14 million guaranteed with the Eagles to remain with the team.
Graham’s 2016 record is 59 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 11 run stuffs, and 5.5 sacks. It was then that he was named the 2016 All-Pro 2nd Team by the Associated Press. He was also part of the first team All-Pro by Pro Football Focus and All-NFC by the Pro Football Writers Association. Because of this, Graham’s status and skill was rated as the ninth best player in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. By the time 2017 season kicked in, Graham had recorded 4 tackles, two sacks and a pass deflection in the Eagles’ 30-10 win over the Washington Redskins.
