Image Credit: Miguel DiscartBilled from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Brock Lesnar has had both a prosperous WWE and UFC career. As a professional wrestler, Lesnar debuted in the WWE on March 18th, 2002 on the Raw show after WrestleMania X8. His first year in the WWE was huge at the time as he won the WWE Undisputed Title just five months after debuting by beating The Rock at SummerSlam 2002. From that point on, Lesnar became a huge star for the company for the next two years.
However, his WWE career was cut short as he got sick of the hard traveling schedule for professional wrestlers and quit the WWE in early 2004 to try his hand at being an American Football player in the NFL. His NFL career did not go as planned as he was released from the Minnesota Vikings later that same year.
It wasn’t until Lesnar transitioned to MMA 2007 that another second career made his life even better. After a great debut, UFC President Dana White came calling and Lesnar made his debut in the MMA promotion in 2008 and became one of the biggest draws in UFC history. He quickly became the UFC Heavyweight Champion by beating Randy Couture and he defended his title multiple times. Injuries and illnesses cut his MMA career short though prompting him to retire from the sport for the first time in late 2011.
Ever since 2012, Lesnar went back to being a professional wrestler and WWE owner Vince McMahon has bowed down to his wishes. Lesnar is now allowed to work a lighter part-time schedule eliminating all of the stress of traveling like last time. Lesnar seems to be happy staying as a professional wrestler as he re-signed back with the WWE in April 2018 with a clause in his contract that will also allow him to fight in the UFC for one or two more fights. As of time of writing, Lesnar is still the current WWE Universal Champion and Vince McMahon still considers him to be a big draw for the company which is why he’s still getting a lot of money.
Lesnar’s salary has been different thanks to him choosing multiple different career paths over his lifetime. In his first run in the WWE, Lesnar had a contract worth multiple millions of dollars but he all left that behind when he left and did MMA. His MMA career shot up quickly and when he was UFC Heavyweight Champion, he was getting around $400,000 per fight. Since returning to the WWE in 2012, Lesnar negotiated a new contract that netted him around $6 million per year. As of 2017 according to Forbes, this shot up to $12 million per year.
However, Brock Lesnar has now signed a new WWE contract that is supposedly higher than his previous deal. Not to mention his current contract allows him to fight in the UFC again. In 2016, Lesnar earned over $2.5 million to fight Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016. This was his first MMA fight since “retiring” from the sport the first time back in 2011. If UFC President Dana White allows him to fight again in the future, his UFC salary could also rise.
In all, we estimate Brock Lesnar net worth in 2018 at $22 million.
