Priscilla Marie Winans Love, aka CeCe Williams, was born on October 8, 1964. She is an American Gospel singer from Detroit, Michigan and is credited as one of the biggest names in the genre. Her career began as a solo artist when she released Alone in His Presence in 1995. The album was met with critical acclaim and earned her a Grammy award for Best Female Vocalist of the Year. The album was later platinum certified.
She then released her 2nd album Everlasting Love in 1998 which features her most successful singles to date including “Well Alright”, “Slippin”, and “On That Day”. In the same year, she released a holiday album titled His Gift.
She then founded PureSprings Gospel, her own recording company. Through her label, she released her next album Alabaster Box in 1999. In the following year, she released a video of her live performance titled Live at the Lambs Theater in New York.
She later released a new album in 2001 titled Cece Winans and shortly after, took a two year hiatus from producing music. Her return to the industry was marked with her 2003 album Throne Room which was followed by a live DVD performance titled Live in the Throne Room. The tour for promoting the album however ended abruptly due to a stomach infection which required surgery.
After her recovery, she released Purified in 2005 which was produced by Keith Thomas and Cece’s nephew Mario Winans. On April 1, 2008, she released her new album Thy Kingdom Come. She followed this up with a Bebe & Cece reunion album titled Still in 2009.
She later on appeared as a judge on BET’s gospel singing competition for 2 years since 2012.
