Since the outbreak of coronavirus, people around the world have been urged to self-isolate in order to reduce transmission. This has resulted in the shutdown of schools, closure of businesses, layoffs, canceled events, and a lot more. It seems as if the world has temporarily been switched off, but that didn’t stop celebrity coronavirus donations. In this global crisis, some celebrities are actively playing their part to help those in need.

With the situation getting worse with each passing day, celebrities have stepped up to help by raising awareness about the virus and donating those who are in dire need of support. Some celebrities are even providing live streams of performances on social media to keep their fans entertained.
Many affected families, especially those who relied on daily wages, have no access to meals. Hospitals have run out of resources and even space to accommodate thousands of new cases each day.
With financial resources at their disposal, celebrities from around the world are contributing to relief efforts and provide aid to the less fortunate in their communities. Here, let’s take a look at what some of the stars have done to alleviate the financial burden of families and hospitals in their community.
The COVID-19 outbreak has left millions of children hungry and without food. Angelina Jolie, the Hollywood star, has donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry, a non-profit organization in America, to fight child hunger.
There are around 22 million children in America, belonging to low-income families, who are deprived of food after the closure of their schools. These children depended on the care and nutrition they received at schools.
John Mayer, the American singer-songwriter, has donated to the Livingston Healthcare Foundation, a charity organization that raises funds for the hospital sector. It is reported that John reached out to the organization and donated funds for the purchase of ventilators.
The famous Piano Man, along with his wife, Alexis, have made several donations through their foundation, The Joel Foundation. The first contribution of $500,000 was made to help buy protective equipment for the frontline health care professionals who have been risking their lives, saving coronavirus affected patients.
Around three-quarters of the equipment is reserved for hospitals on Long Island and around other areas in New York City. The rest has been sent upstate.
Taylor Swift has been sending donations to those in need ever since the Coronavirus pandemic broke out. Most of the people who have received donations have come up on social media and posted online to say they have received the funds.
Freelance music photographer, Holly Turner, confirmed to have received $3,000 from Taylor Swift by sharing a private message from her.
Taylor has also helped another stressed out fan who had been worrying about the piled up unpaid bills during the lockdown. Taylor Swift net worth is over $300 million and we are glad that she’s using the money for good during these crisis.
James McAvoy, the X-Men actor, has made a donation of £275,000 for the NHS campaign. The donation is intended towards the purchase of protective equipment like goggles, masks, gloves, and gowns for healthcare staff.
The Scottish star also came up on his social media account to give a message to his fans through a video. He appealed for NHS donations and emphasized the risk that nurses and doctors are going through without personal protective equipment.
Shawn Mendes, through his foundation, The Shawn Mendes Foundation, donated $175,000 to The Hospital for Sick Children. He has also provided the Toronto based hospital with essential medical equipment to combat COVID-19. He announced through his social media post that all donations for the next month would go towards The Hospital for Sick Children.
While celebrities are doing their part to help and provide support, the entertainment industry has also been hit by the deadly virus. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are a few of the many stars who have been affected by the virus. We hope that just like celebrity coronavirus donations, the lesser-known wealthy people also share their wealth for the good of the world.
