Christopher Wray is a long term civil servant who has also worked in private practice as a lawyer.
Wray graduated from Yale law school, and since then he has worked for the Justice Department in numerous roles. For several years, he served as assistant attorney general. He also served as a member of George W. Bush’s Enron task force.
More recently, he has been a partner at an international law practice, where he has defended some of the biggest cases of our time, including that of the New Jersey bridge closures.

As a public attorney, working for the Justice Department, Wray didn’t make too much money. The salaries for attorneys general and deputies are around $150,000 per year.
