    Haim’s first silver screen appearance was in 1984 in the film Firstborn where he worked with Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. This led to his first lead role in Stephen King’s Silver Bullet which essentially jumpstarted his career into stardom. He went on to work on the 1986 film Lucas which earned him his first nomination for the Young Artist’s Award.

    The actor confessed later on that around this time was when he first started drinking which led to marijuana, and later harder drugs such as cocaine. Despite his addiction, he managed to earn another nomination for his role in The Lost Boys in 1987 where he first worked with Corey Feldman.

    This was the start of a very lengthy, professional relationship and friendship between the two as they went on to co-star in several other movies including License to Drive, Watchers, and Dream a Little Dream.

    In an attempt to recover and rebuild his reputation, he filmed a documentary entitled Corey Haim: Me, Myself, and I, which due to obvious rehearsed lines and staged family-friendly activities, left a poor taste in everyone’s mouth. Due to his substance abuse, his reputation as badly damaged and several of his subsequent films went straight to video.

    As he felt his career and fame start to die down, he’s been in and out of rehab several times which caused serious weight gain, crippling emotional stress, and further substance abuse eventually leading to a stroke.

    In 2004, he claimed that he was finally clean of all substance abuse and was on the road to recovery. He then reunited Corey Feldman and filmed a reality TV show called The Two Coreys in 2007. It shows Haim’s recovery and his attempts at reconciliation between the two. It ran for 19 episodes and eventually got cancelled in 2009.

    At the age of 38, he was discovered dead in his apartment in Oakland, California on March 10, 2010. Despite rumours of an overdose, it was later declared that he died of natural causes.

    At the end of his life, Corey Haim had very little money. In fact, he owed nearly $200,000, including $100,000 to the federal government. All that he had for assets were an old car, some cash, and clothing. But he did have a pension fund that was worth a few thousand dollars.
