Anthony Cris Collinsworth was born on January 27, 1959 in Dayton, Ohio. Both his parents were educators. When Collinsworth was for years old, his family moved to Titusville, Florida and he went to Astronaut High School where his father was the principal. Collinsworth was a high school football All-American quarterback.
Cris Collinsworth attended University of Florida on an athletic scholarship. He was part of the Florida Gators from 1977 until 1980. His first game as a quarterback but later became a wide receiver. H ended his collegiate career with a bang when he was recognized as MVP of the 1980 Tangerine Bowl. The 1981 NFL Draft was the start of an eight-year professional relationship for Collinsworth and the Cincinnati Bengals. He signed with Tampa Bay Bandits in 1985 but the contract became invalid due to a failed physical because of a bad ankle. He continued his career with the Bengals until Super Bowl XXIII which was his final game in the league.
After retiring, Cris Collinsworth became a sports talk show host on WLW, a Cincinnati station. What started as a guest hosting stint became a full-time gig. In 1989, Collinsworth became a reporter for HBO’s Inside the NFL. He appears on television as a sportscaster for the NFL Network, Showtime and NBC.
