Although Gwyneth Paltrow gave herself a C- for her attempt to live on $29 a week, as a person on food stamps would, she definitely gets an F. Home girl only lasted four days of her “week” challenge.
Apparently, Paltrow’s challenge stemmed from a personal challenge from all-star chef Mario Batali and she decided to give it a go.
Paltrow used 25 bucks to buy limes, avocado, kale, eggs, and more. For four days, she only has three recipes to show for her troubles: taquitos, black bean cakes, and a sweet potato-kale-egg thing.
Paltrow admitted she caved on the fourth day and had a half-bag of black liquorice, among other things. Replace the liquorice with a pack of cigs and it almost sounds like the struggle of Americans on food stamps.
We kid.
Anyways, the experience was so torturous for Gwyneth Paltrow she claims to have a new appreciation for being able to feed her kids high-quality food.
The experiment was intended for a good cause in order to raise money for the New York City Food Bank, so that’s cool. Paltrow, who had a sneaking suspicion one week of crappy food would be too hard for her, donated to the cause right from the rip. Even cooler.
