While Hulk Hogan worked as a heel for the start of his career, he was not a household name yet. Hulk Hogan did not become a household name until he got a small role in Rocky III starring Sylvester Stallone. It was this role that made Hogan a more recognizable face and he jumped ship to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1983. He was WWF Champion for four years and dominated the golden era of professional wrestling in the 1980s.
Vince McMahon started WrestleMania in 1985 and this further increased Hulk Hogan’s popularity in the United States and around the world. Not to mention his public image suffered recently when he got caught saying racist things during a leaked sex tape. However, he won a lawsuit against Gawker over the sex tape and now he’s starting to rebuild his public image. He’s now signed a new deal with the WWE after getting fired from the company in 2015.
Hulk Hogan has always been pretty wealthy over his career, although he lost a bit of money due to his divorce from Linda Claridge. While he didn’t go broke, it still cost him a lot of money.
