Starlet Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas dreamed up what looked like a Bollywood extravaganza. Although the pictures of the Hindu and Christian ceremonies haven’t been released, the world has fallen in love with the pictures from the pre-wedding ceremonies.
For the Mehendi ceremony, Chopra wore a vibrant outfit designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Her yellow ‘lehnga choli’ got mixed reviews from fans, but the happiness that radiated through the pictures melted hearts. Chopra’s Mehndi jewelry was designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, created by Saboo for AJSK BY SABOO.
Men from both the sides carried Nick Jonas into the venue in typical Punjabi style. Later, there was a cricket match between Team Groom and Team Bride. A video was released on Instagram which showed Nick batting like a pro.
Parineeti Chopra (Priyanka’s first cousin), who is also a Bollywood star in her own right was one of the bridesmaids, as were Nicks sisters-in-law. On Instagram, Parineeti posted with a caption:
“THE MEHNDI. The job of us bridesmaids was to make sure the bride was happy and comfortable at all times. But we didn’t have to worry about it – coz Nick promised to do it all his life. Welcome to the family Nick jiju!! I’m so so happy that the Jonas and Chopra family is now united!!!”
(FYI: Jiju s an endearing Hindi word used for brother-in-law).
The video from the Sangeet released by the couple looked like a clip from a Bollywood movie. The theme of the Sangeet was boys VS girls. The groom’s side performed live, and the clip showed a performance by Priyanka and her mother on Ram Chahe Leela.
Priyanka wrote on Instagram posting pictures and videos from the sangeet:
“And what a performance it was,” she continued. “Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love, and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends.
On Saturday (December 1st) the couple got married in a Christain ceremony. The bride, groom, and bridesmaids dressed in a bespoke Ralph Lauren, which we have yet to see. Nick Jonas’s father officiated the wedding.
Their first dance as husband and wife was Roberta Flack’s ‘The First Time I Saw Your Face’. The ceremony ended with a stunning fireworks display that lit up the sky.
The second wedding ceremony which took place the following day was in accordance with Hindi traditions. Earlier in the day, the traditional “haldi” and “choora” ceremony took place — the bride dressed in a gorgeous red sari and the groom dressed in a traditional outfit and turban. Nick Jonas arrived on a “ghodi” (a horse) and with a full “baarat” (the groom’s side).
It’s been amazing to see how both families have embraced each other’s cultures and faith.
