    James Henry Harrison Jr. is a 39 year old line-backer who plays for the New England Patriots in the NFL. He was born in Akron, Ohio.     After high school James Harrison went Kent State University, but wasn’t allowed to play because of NCAA academic guidelines. He played the final three games of 1999 season, and performed excellently.

    After James Harrison graduated from Kent (he is in their “K” hall of fame), in 2010 he donated $100 000 to the university.

    In 2002, James Harrison was signed as a rookie by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He struggled as a player, and received very little game time.

    In 2003, Baltimore picked James Harrison up, and he went to play in The Rein of Fire in the European NFL. He was dropped so many times he thought about leaving football forever. In 2004 he was signed once again by the Steelers, and after much improvement he stayed there until the 2012 season. He opened his NFL account in 2004, with a touch down against the Buffalo Bills.

    In 2005, James Harrison started just three games. Although lacking game time, he did earn a Super Bowl ring because the Steelers won the Bowl that season.

    In 2007, the Steelers had added two line-backers to their squad, but chose Harrison as a starter instead. It was a wise choice in the end because he had a fantastic season: he was named in All-Pro Second Team, and started his first ever Super Bowl. Because of another excellent performance against the Baltimore Ravens, he was titled “Mr. Monday Night”.

    James Harrison had developed a powerful partnership with LaMarr Woodley in 2008, and the pair made a record when they amassed 27.5 sacks in the season.

In 2015 he penned a two year contract for the team, earning $2.65 million, plus a $500k signing bonus. By late 2016, he had amassed the most ever sacks for the Pittsburgh team, and at the end of the season he had a total of 79.5 sacks.

    In 2017 James Harrison again signed a contract extension for the Steelers, but joined the New England Patriots in late 2017, and had a successful debut against the New York Jets.
