JamesOn Curry’s first name is named after mixing his father and great uncle’s name James and Leon. Curry took secondary education in Mebane, Carolina at Eastern Alamance High School. Curry earned a scholarship at the University of North Carolina, but it got canceled after his involvement in selling drugs at school. Later, Curry attended Oklahoma State University in 2004.

Curry played basketball in college with Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball (2004-2007) and started playing professionally in 2007. In the 2007 NBA draft, Curry was chosen number 52 in round 2 by the Chicago Bulls. He didn’t play a match for Bulls in that season and instead was sent to play in NBA Development League. Chicago Bulls released him in July 2008 and were indebted to pay him $100,000.
In the NBA D-League, Curry played for Lowa Energy, Springfield Armor, and Bakersfield Jam. Curry played for the Iowa Energy during 2007-2008. Later, Curry played for the Iowa Energy throughout 2009, the Springfield Armor over 2009-2010, and the Springfield Armor during 2010-2011.
With Springfield Armor, Curry was averaging 16.1 points and 4.0 rebounds that made Los Angeles Clippers of NBA sign him in 2010.
