This is unfortunate for Jean since he had indicated in the past he enjoyed playing for the Green Bay Packers because of how well they take care of their players. The releasing and re-signing was supposedly due to the team unable to make a decision about their rosters.
Ricky Jean Francois then signed with the New England Patriots on November 7, 2017. He was released December 2, 2017, then re-signed December 13, 2017.

Expertise in The Field
Ricky Jean Francois is a force to be reckoned with and has distinctive traits to prove it. He is tall but packs enough force and violent hands give him the necessary leverage needed to break into a pocket. Very able to reach the quarterback when he is in sight. He plants like a tree, rarely moving when face one-on-one block. He can move quickly down the field and this is where his height and length come in handy. Moving quick down the field he can cover a wide amount of space.
At times Ricky Jean Francois’ speed does falter to keep off when a cut block occurs, but he is able to recover from it very well. He does not have that speed and stop-start necessary to make him invaluable but he is able to cover a large amount of space with power, coming in handy as a defensive tackle.
Ricky Jean Francois has proven himself to be an excellent defensive tackle player for the NFL. While he has earned some notable awards and highlights, he has, unfortunately, had some bad luck with team releases. Hopefully, in the near future, he will be able to show what a talented player he is.
