Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian West has long declared her love for Cher, and the music legend even made an appearance on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. However, that didn’t stop her husband from using his cell phone during the opening night of Broadways The Cher Show.
With so much media attention on the couple all the time, it’s hard to understand how Yeezy thought he would go unnoticed while he checked his phone.
Actor Jarrod Spector, who plays Sonny Bono, Cher’s ex-husband on stage in the Broadway musical, called out Kanye on Twitter for his indecent behavior during the show.
On Monday, December 3, he tweeted:
“Hey @kanyewest so cool that you’re here at @TheCherShow!” If you look up from your cell phone, you’ll see we’re doing a show up here. It’s opening night. Kind of a big deal for us. Thanks so much.”
So how did the rapper react to the tweet? You know he has his typical Yeezy moments, but for once he was gracious and accepted his mistake (now we wish he’d do the same for Trump gate as well).
Kanye West quickly took to Twitter and apologized for being impolite during the show and said:
“the dynamics of Cher and Sonny’s relationship made Kim and I grab each other’s hand and sing ‘I got you, babe,’” he tweeted in response to Spector. “please pardon my lack of etiquette. We have so much appreciation for the energy you guys put into making this masterpiece.”
Don’t you think the “lack of etiquette” bought more attention to the show? Yes, yes Kim Kardashian’s in her backless dress did wonders as well, but this was a little icing on the cake. As they any press is good press. Also, Kanye apologizing for anything is a big deal, don’t you agree?
As the name would suggest, The Cher Show tells the story of the pop legends love life and career. The show also includes 35 of her biggest hits (including Do You Believe In Life After Love), it also highlights her contribution to pop culture as well her two infamous marriages to Bono and Gregg Allman.
Hidden in Kim’s’ shadow were other celebrity attendees Tina Fey, Nia Vardalos, and Hoda Kotb, and they didn’t use their cell phones during the show.
Cher made an appearance on stage during the curtain call and sang “If I Could Turn Back Time” with the cast members.
Before the opening of the new musical, Kardashian had the chance to meet her idol backstage at one of her Las Vegas concerts earlier this year. Last year she also dressed up as Cher for Halloween. So its safe to say that Kim is a big Cher fan.
Who knows maybe she had something to do with her husband’s apology? What do you guys think? Also, do you think Kanye West broke into the realms of indecency while checking his phone or should Jarrod have just let it go?
