Larry Harvey was born on January 11th, 1948 in San Francisco, California. He died in his hometown on San Francisco on April 28th, 2018 at the age of 70. He suffered a stroke on April 4th, 2018 and sadly succumbed to the illness just a few weeks later. Aside from being a famous artist, he is also known to be an active philanthropist and activist too as well as being the founder of the ‘Burning Man’ event.

“Our founder, friend, and original instigator, Larry Harvey has passed away. Larry suffered a massive stroke at his home on the morning of April 4. We resolutely held out for a miracle. If there was anyone tenacious, strong-willed and stubborn enough to come back from this challenge, it was Larry. Though we all hoped he would recover, he passed peacefully this morning at 8:24am in San Francisco, with members of his family at his side.”
Harvey’s biggest accomplishment in the entertainment industry was the Burning Man festival which he co-founded with John Law, Jerry James and Scott “The Hammer” Mucci back in June 1986. It’s supposed to be a celebratory event that sees thousands of people come together to express their own artistic expression.The event is usually held every year at the Black Rock Desert and people from all around the world come to it. When the event started in the ’80s, only 800 people attended but now after thirty years later up to 60,000 and 70,000 people at it now.
