Throughout the course of the past couple weeks, Drake has thrown some serious shade at rapper Meek Mill after a falling out, saying that Meek Mill is clearly not successful as evident in him being the opening act for girlfriend Nicki Minaj.
That got us wondering- how much is Meek Mill worth these days? Is there any truth to Drake’s ruthless claims?
For starters, Meek Mill- born Robert Rahmeek Williams- had a pretty rough start to his career.
Before Meek Mill became famous, he hit a few obstacles that could have sidelined his career had he not been so relentless.
In 2008, just as the industry was beginning to hear and appreciate Mill’s talent, he was arrested and jailed for gun and drug charges, spending the next eight months behind bars.
Despite going back to rapping upon his release in 2009, Meek Mill did not get his career break until 2011 when he linked up with hip-hop mogul Rick Ross and was signed to Ross’ Maybach Music Group. Mill be able to catch Ross’ attention by using Twitter- an impressive feat in itself.
Ever since, Meek Mill has grown to become a big name in name in hi-hop, so much so that it’s hard to imagine him only being in the spotlight for the past five years.
As a result of his successes, Mill has been able to live a comfortably luxury lifestyle. Earlier this year, Mill purchased a Mercedes-Mayback S600, becoming only the second celebrity behind the notoriously flashy Flloyd Mayweather to own one.
These days, Meek Mill is a formidable voice in the industry and is indeed dating hip-hop queen Nicki Minaj to create a power duo that has the potential to reach Jay-Z and Beyonce status.
Drake has called Nicki Minaj the bread-winner in the relationship- and that’s pretty true. Minaj started to achieve her international success in 2010, when she was featured on seven of Billboard’s Hot 100 songs.
Her mega-fame has led her to fame and a fortune of $60,000,000,
