Michele Tafoya’s start was with KFAN-AM in Minneapolis as a host and a reporter. Her assignments were mostly for University of Minnesota women’s basketball broadcasts and for Minnesota Vikings. Using the name Mickey Conley, she worked in WAQS-AM in Charlotte. It was there where she became the first female to work as a color analyst for UNC-Charlotte basketball games for men. Tafoya’s stint with the Midwest Sports Channel gave her an opportunity to become a host and a reporter for the Minnesota Timberwolves. She spent three years as a sports anchor and reporter for the WCCO-TV in Minnesota.
When Michele Tafoya moved to CBS Sports in September 1994, she became the reporter and host of CBS Sports Spectacular and At The Half. It was during the 1994 U.S. Open Tennis Championships where she made her first on-air debut. Her other assignments at CBS include covering the 1998 National Championship Orange Bowl, Goodwill Games and the NCAA Tournament selection show. Tafoya received a Gracie Award for Outstanding Achievement by an Individual On-Air TV Personality from The American Women in Radio and Television.
