Mikaela Pauline Shiffrin, or more commonly known as Mikaela Shiffrin, was born on March 13, 1995 in Vail, Colorado. She comes from a family of ski racers. Her father raced for Darmouth College in New Hampshire, her mother during her high school and her brother for the University of Denver.
As soon as Shiffrin could compete in FIS sanctioned races, she became a familiar face at different events. In December 2010, she won a Nor-Am Cup super combined race after competing in only eight FIS-level races.
