Peter Brackely was born on 1951 in Brighton, England and was a famous English football commentator that did work on real life games as well as video games. He began his career at BBC Radio in the early 1970s in his hometown of Brighton, England. During his time at BBC Radio, he called the two FA Cup finals as well as the 1982 European Cup Final as well as athletics just to name a few. Some other channels he called were Sport on Two, Sports Report and BBC Catalogue
After calling sports on radio for many years, in 1982 he made the switch to television. He initially got a job at ITV replacing Hugh Johns’ role. Some of the event s he got to cover included the 1986 FIFA World Cup and the 1984 European Championship in France. The first live match he covered was a match between the teams of Manchester United vs Sheffield Wednesday in 1986. Over the years he bounced to other networks such as Sky, Football Italia and then back to ITV again.
In more recent years, Peter Brackley was the main commentator for the Pro Evolution Soccer series for Konami. He commentated the first six games in the series and even did work on ‘Michael Owen’s World League Soccer ’99’. Later on though, he moved on to other things outside of sport such as comedy work and more. Sadly, Brackley passed away on October 14th, 2018 due to poor health. He died at the age of 67.
