Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Plans to Celebrate Archie’s First Birthday
It was May 6th, 2019, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, into the world. This was the day when the world rejoiced, and now just after a few more weeks, they will be celebrating Archie’s first birthday.

It definitely is a huge milestone for the couple as this is their first child’s first birthday. As such, the fans all around the world are keen to know how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will celebrate Archie’s birthday. Although the royal family is notoriously private when it comes to their private matters, here is what we have managed to know so far.
Initially, it was decided that Sussexes will visit the Queen Elizabeth in Balmoral Castle in Scotland to celebrate little Archie’s birthday. They have even reportedly spoken to the Queen of their plans of having a picnic on the grounds. As per the sources, the queen has been waiting to see Archie since last year, as both Prince Harry and Meghan could not make it to Balmoral last year after they declined Her Majesty’s invitation. However, it seems the celebration may not materialize on Archie’s birthday as the couple had to adjust the plan amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Archie’s First Birthday Celebration Ruined by Coronavirus
After serving the royal engagements, the couple shifted to their mansion in LA mansion, where they have been self-isolating. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the royal family will have to cancel all upcoming royal engagements, which also included Archie’s much anticipated birthday celebration.
According to a close source, “I think the hope in royal circles had been that the Sussexes would return to the UK in May, either before or after their attendance at the Invictus Games in The Netherlands next month.”
The couple was also due to attend Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Parade that was scheduled to be held on June 13th. After having canceled both events, Prince Harry and Meghan are likely to celebrate Archie’s birthday at home. The close source said, “Archie is set to celebrate his first birthday with only his parents.”
According to a source, the royal child’s birthday somehow could have been marked with the members of the royal family if the couple was residing in the UK. However, they might possibly be celebrating with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, who lives nearby in Los Angeles.
Keeping Strong Ties with The Family
Regardless of how things unfold, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will hold a gathering when the time is right for Archie’s first birthday celebration. However, Archie’s birthday on the actual date would not be celebrated, according to a close source, “won’t be the big first birthday celebration they have been planning, with friends, family, and some godparents.”
There is no doubt that Sussexes will get in touch with the Royal family on Archie’s special day. As per the reports, the Queen has already started maintaining contact with her great-grandchildren through regular video calls. It is reported by an insider that “Kate Middleton ensures that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis speak to the Queen, known as ‘Gan Gan’ and Prince Philip as often as possible,”

For now, Meghan is focusing on making Archie’s first birthday special with animal-themed cupcakes. Since Archie is a huge animal lover and has tons of animal books and stuff toys, the animal theme would surely amuse him.
