Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, was born on March 9, 1993, in Daegu, South Korea. He is the younger of the two sons. The singer attended Taejeon Elementary School, and afterward, he went on to attend Gwaneum Middle School and Apgujeong High School. Suga developed an interest in rap music at an early age after hearing “Reggae Muffin” by Stony Skunk. However, his real motivation was Epik High, for pursuing a career in rap music. At the age of 13, he started to write music lyrics. He also did a part-time job at a recording studio when he was 17-years-old. Before signing the contract with Big Hit Entertainment, he was known by the name Gloss as an underground rapper.
