Vinnie Paul was born on March 11th, 1964 as Vincent Paul Abbott in Abilene, Texas, U.S. Aside from being known as the drummer of Pantera, he is also famous for being a songwriter and producer when he was still alive. Vinnie Paul was always gifted to become a musician because his father named Jerry Abbott was also a famous country music songwriter and producer. It was not until the year of 1981 did he found the band Pantera along with his own brother Dimebag Darrell, Terry Glazeon guitars, bassist Tommy D. Bradford, and vocalist Donnie Hart.
The band did not find their footing until they recruited Phil Anselmo as their lead vocalist in 1986 and he remained as the singer up until the band broke up in 2003. As Pantera, the band released nine albums over their career and sold 60 million albums all over the world as of August 2017. They are one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time and many new bands look up to them as inspiration.
After Pantera broke up, Vinnie Paul and his brother Dimebag Darrell founded another band called ‘Damageplan’ in 2004. Sadly though, Damageplan did not last very long when Dimebag Darrell got shot on stage. Vinnie Paul for the remainder of his career then had to join other bands to make a living. The death of Dimebag Darrell also prevented them from making a reunion with the other members of Pantera after 2003.

The official Pantera Facebook page initially posted the following message: “Vincent Paul Abbott aka Vinnie Paul has passed away. Paul is best known for his work as the drummer in the bands Pantera and Hellyeah. No further details are available at this time.The family requests you please respect their privacy during this time.” It was later found out that Vinnie Paul died from a massive heart attack. Vinnie Paul might be gone, but his legacy will last forever in the hearts of many heavy metal fans all around the world. He was still wealthy at the time of his death though.
