Who hasn’t heard of Zoella? If you haven’t, then you must be living under a rock, because she’s one of the most subscribed YouTubers in the world.
Zoe Elizabeth Sugg or Zoe Sugg, better known as Zoella was born to her parents Tracy and Graham Sugg on March 28, 1990, in the small town of Lacock, Wiltshire, United Kingdom.
The successful YouTuber completed her A-Levels in Art, Photography and Textiles from The Corsham School. Later, Sugg started working for an interior design company when she decided to start her first attempt at blogging, starting zoella280390 which was dedicated to beauty and fashion, in February 2009.
By the end of the year Zoe had garnered over a thousand followers, however, at this point, she was still working full time with English Fashion brand New Look. In the second year of her blogger endeavor, the blog evolved into YouTube’s Zoella. She went on to create MoreZoella, her second channel, dedicated to daily vlogging.
As her popularity grew, she was noticed by Gleam futures. A new era of YouTube started because Gleam encouraged their influencers (back then just referred to as YouTubers) to bond with each other and created content together.
Game changers like Tanya Burr, Noimi Smart, Joe Sugg, Jim Chapman, and Alfie Deyes started featuring each other in their videos. This resulted in a massive growth of all their channels. At one point they partnered with a couple of different channels to make content for them.
By now subscribers had started speculating that romance was brewing behind the scenes between Alfie Deyes and Zoe Sugg. When the two initially started dating, they preferred not to address the rumors circulating about their romance.
A couple of months into their relationship, the pair decided to confirm their relationship status to the world, and well, their young subscribers went wild.
As her followers increased, so did her opportunities. She, along with fellow YouTubers went on tours, had meet and greets at different events and started their merchandise.
As of now, Zoella’s net worth is reported to be around £2.8 million.
She inked a two-book deal with Penguin boosted by a £100,000 advance in 2014. Her first novel, Girl Online, was released on November 25, 2014. It sold 78,109 copies in the first week and crushed the record for biggest sales by a debut author (beating Fifty Shades of Grey and even Harry Potter).
Till now the novel has sold about 298,310 copies, minting approximately £2 million. In the following year, she released the sequel.
Sugg was featured in several ads on print media, billboards, and TV and also revealed Zoella Beauty, her beauty products line.
